Here is a selection of my images from last night’s wonderful packed-house concert by David Buchbinder’s Odessa/Havana at the Canadian Opera Company’s Free Concert Series. I love shooting the evening performances – the place looks like a jewel box with the lights from University Avenue, and we’re lucky enough to have three spots lighting the performance space from above. There were still lighting challenges – the percussionist and drummer were outside the lit area, so there was some high ISO, low aperture work required, along with heavy Lightroom colour balancing and exposure adjustment, with some grain as a result.

And of course, the need to stay focused and shoot (rather than listening to the show) is always a challenge. Odessa/Havana will be at Lula Lounge on Sunday, November 16th. If you get the chance, you should go.
