Here are some images from last weekend’s shoot of the dress rehearsals for the Canadian Opera Company’s Glencore Ensemble Studio tour, running at schools all over the province from Nov. 4 to Dec. 1. The operas are developed or adapted specifically for younger audiences, with question-and-answer sessions following the performances. The kids seem to have a great time. I like them because they’re “small-stage” performances and the sets and costumes are simple, vivid, and fun.
Lighting is somewhat more of a challenge in the rehearsal space and probably many of the venues where these performances take place. That’s more of an issue I need to deal with as the photographer, though.
Usually my post processing work consists of some sharpening, colour adjustment and vignetting, and nothing more. The sets and lighting are usually enough to “make” an image. This time I found one, though, of Danielle MacMillan, mezzo soprano, that had some potential with a little more post production – you can be the judge of that.
