Thanks for your post and glad you like it here. I'm still somewhat undecided on the D3S vs. the 4. I hear the 4's images are sharper at high ISO's but I'm not entirely sure I need to go there. I plan to rent a D3S next week, so I guess I'll know more then!

Great blog Chris! I was searching the web for info regarding the D3S used and quickly came across your post. What a great read! Thanks! Hope you get your camera after all. Let me know how you did.

Cheers,

My fave, originally, was a Pentax K1000 - my mother had 2 of them and loaned me one. That got me started. After that, the only camera I regret having given up was my trusty Nikon 801S. The most fun? A Wista 4 x 5 - absolutely no knobs and buttons. I'll never give it up.

I agree with everything you say. I have slowly upgraded my cameras with the excitement of a little kid. I admit it's also fun to play around with the new toy and all the gizmos that go with to.
Yet, I find that some of the better pics I ever took was with a 1968 Nikkormat FTN. Maybe I was more concentrated then on the picture than with the exciting bells and whistles. I got to also admit that I liked things mechanical, and sometimes with all the buttons and screens on the current cameras I feel like I'm working some kind of video game when I should be thinking about the composition, etc..
