This week’s Poll du Jour is a technical question. I’d like to know whether you typically take pictures in RAW or JPEG format. If you have the time, I’d appreciate you also adding some comments about why you use that particular format.
I shoot pretty well everything in RAW format, because it gives me a wealth of detail to work with, and occasional redemption when I blow a shot. The disadvantage is that RAW files are quite large. There are visible differences between the two formats, and you can see them pretty quickly if you set your camera to save files in both formats when you take a picture. I find I get much better results exporting the final product to JPEG format from Lightroom.
